Today’s the 1st of December! And with the arrival of this month Christmas seems to be closer and closer, but how do you wait for its arrival? Us at CLECIT want to recommend you to start an advent calendar that you like!
The origin of the calendar dates back in 17th century and has as protagonist a child: impatient to celebrate Christmas little Gherard Lang did nothing but asking his mother “how many days left till Christmas?”. A Year tired of continuously hearing repeated the same question, his mother cooked a special Christmas dessert, with the idea on putting them in 24 little bags. This innovative idea made little Gherard live the expectation of Christmas in a more engaging way!
At the very beginning of the 20th century, Gherard, now an adult, decided to extend this idea to everyone! He created a poster with 24 windows, which each mother could fill up with sweets and delicacies of all kinds.
That way, every child would know “how long till Christmas?”
Today there are many types of Advent Calendars that no longer contain only sweets and chocolates. In short, a tradition that from today we at CLECIT want to start. Curious to find out how? We’ll reveal it this afternoon in our stories!
