“THE NIGHTINGALE”: A MEETING BETWEEN GENERATIONS

The nightingale is a 2013 movie directed by Philippe Muyl. It’s the story of an old Chinese peasant that makes a trip from Beijing to Yangshuo to bring back home a nightingale, the only companion that his wife had had for many years. The old man goes to Yangshuo with his young granddaughter and the journey becomes an opportunity to describe the relationship between two distant generations and reflect on their common origins. The movie is very interesting also because it enables to see some glimpses of everyday rural life in villages in the Guangxi region.

SHANGAI NOON

In 1881 Chon Wang is a Chinese imperial guard in the Forbidden City. When Princess Pei-Pei is kidnapped by deception and taken to the United States, the emperor sends three soldiers and the interpreter of the royal family overseas to save her.
Behind the kidnapping of the girl there is the perfidious Lo Pong, former guard of the exiled sovereign on charges of treason, who manages a slave trade of his compatriots in the wild west and has made an agreement with the sheriff of Carson City, the cruel Nathan Van Cleef .
Wang leaves with his uncle to participate in the mission and arrives in Nevada, where the gang of outlaws led by Roy O ’Bannon targets the train on which the eastern party was traveling. Following the attempted robbery, the protagonist ends up separating from the rest of the group and joins O ‘Bannon, giving life to an unprecedented couple who will combine cooked and raw before completing the assigned task.
At the beginning of the new millennium, Jackie Chan continues her successful journey in Hollywood cinema with a sui generis comedy set in the old west, in which she shares the scene with Owen Wilson’s “slap face”: a duo that works by mutual alchemy and instills a genuine sympathy in the viewer, intent during the two hours of viewing to witness a series of physical gags and jokes that play on cultural differences.
Choreographically less inspired than other films starring the acrobatic actor with almond eyes, Chinese Bullets focuses on pure fun by revisiting the archetypes of the vein in a playful way, risking overdoing it in some passages but bringing home the sufficiency without too many problems.

EAT, DRINK AND BE THANKFUL

The Thanksgiving Day is a party that is celebrated in USA every fourth Thursday of November and in Canada every second Monday of October.
The first Thanksgiving Day dates back to 1621 when, in the city of Plymounth, in Massachusetts, Pilgrim Fathers came together to thank God for the good harvest. The national party was proclaimed officially in 1863 at the hand of Abramo Lincoln, during the War of Secession.
In Europe everyone knows the tradition to stay at the table around the turkey to thank God, life, friends and family for what we have. The tradition requires that the dinner have to take place at home, never at the restaurant!
In conclusion, the origin of the “turkey” dates back to the Atzechi population, who have offered, as a gift, a lot of turkeys to spanish troops who have conquered the area. To the present day, it can be estimated a consumption of 45 million of turkeys that are served at the Thanksgiving table every year!

NOT ONLY CHOCOLATES!

Today’s the 1st of December! And with the arrival of this month Christmas seems to be closer and closer, but how do you wait for its arrival? Us at CLECIT want to recommend you to start an advent calendar that you like!
The origin of the calendar dates back in 17th century and has as protagonist a child: impatient to celebrate Christmas little Gherard Lang did nothing but asking his mother “how many days left till Christmas?”. A Year tired of continuously hearing repeated the same question, his mother cooked a special Christmas dessert, with the idea on putting them in 24 little bags. This innovative idea made little Gherard live the expectation of Christmas in a more engaging way!
At the very beginning of the 20th century, Gherard, now an adult, decided to extend this idea to everyone! He created a poster with 24 windows, which each mother could fill up with sweets and delicacies of all kinds.
That way, every child would know “how long till Christmas?”
Today there are many types of Advent Calendars that no longer contain only sweets and chocolates. In short, a tradition that from today we at CLECIT want to start. Curious to find out how? We’ll reveal it this afternoon in our stories!
